Easily get Dumbbell sounds from clean, mid-boost to overdrive.
The Zendrive 2 is similar to the original—think more violin, less crunch—but it differs significantly in feel. While all of Hermida’s pedals are responsive, this was perhaps the most amp-like of the three, adding a subtle but apparent amount of sag to the signal and imparting a warmer, “bluesier” vibe to proceedings. And while this reviewer has never been completely sold on pedals attempting to incorporate tubes - they’ve always come across as somewhat fickle and not worth the trouble
This is a used ZENDRIVE 2 Tube Pedal by Alf Hermida. The pedal is in excellent condition with only very minor home use. Just bought a AXE FX so no longer have a use for it. It comes with a velcro base as it was used for a short period on my home pedal board. Comes with 2 extra tubes, 1 x 12AU7 and 1 x 12AT7.
The ZENDRIVE 2 is a variation of the original ZENDRIVE with the addition of a dual triode pre-amp tube. The tube is socketed and can be replaced with other preamp tubes. Different tubes can change the voicing and gain of the pedal. TheZENDRIVE 2 comes with a brand new Mullard ECC88 12AX7 tube (the best British made yellow print type worth £75.00 alone), but can also use a 12AT7, 7025, 5751 or similar pre-amp tubes. You must use a 9V Adapter with these pedals as it does not operate with a battery.
The ZENDRIVE 2 is similar in tone to the original—but more “Violin" with less crunch—but it differs significantly in feel. In my opinion, this pedal is the most amp like of all the Hermida pedals. It has a warmer “bluesier” sound. A great pedal, and sadly no longer available. A great Smooth Distortion / Overdrive sound.
